Imagine.....
A world
without boundaries
Cross-cultural understanding,
and learning to live
together
by actually living together!
The Foundation for Academic Cultural Exchange (FACE) provides remarkable opportunities for
students from different nations to share their
cultures with
American families, and, at the same time, further their own
knowledge of American life and education by attending an
American
High School for an entire school year. A short-term
homestay program is also available. We are a family-oriented,
non-profit organization designed
to promote cross-cultural
understanding through student academic exchange programs.
Our programs are designed to foster
goodwill and international understanding through positive homestay
experiences.
In today’s world there is a
vital need for mutual understanding and tolerance. In response to this
challenge, FACE, in cooperation with our
overseas offices, offers
homestay programs that allow international visitors and American host
families to have a truly meaningful
people-to-people experience which will lead to increased learning
and insights about themselves as well as the world.
Our philosophy and goal is to learn to
live together by actually living together. FACE programs are not
intended to be travel or vacation experiences. Instead, they are
intended to create environments that promote cross-cultural exchange
and understanding.
By providing these opportunities to
host families, and to high schools and local communities, FACE strives
to provide opportunities to develop enduring interest in other cultures
and to increase tolerance and understanding between cultures. We
offer two programs......
The Academic Year Homestay Program
This program offers the exchange
students a chance to use English in an everyday setting, expand their
understanding of the American way of life, and make friends in the
United States. Students will attend classes at a local high
school along with American high school students, and increase their
knowledge in many areas including, but not limited to, math, science,
history, English language, literature, art, music and physical
education. The host family will provide room and board and a mutually
beneficial family environment.
The Short-term Homestay Program
This program offers the exchange
student an opportunity to live with a host family for up to 5 weeks.
English as a second language class is provided through a local
agency or tutor. This is an excellent opportunity for students to
experience American lifestyle and contribute to their education.
Both programs
provide our students with that “once-in-a-lifetime”
opportunity to share their culture with American High School students
and make American friends for life!
